Audit Testing Results Prove Customer Data and Operations Security; SOX Compliance
SPOKANE, WA - Oct. 5, 2009 – IT‐Lifeline, the Northwest’s leading provider of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity solutions for small and medium sized businesses, is now certified SAS 70 Type II compliant. Prospective and existing IT‐Lifeline customers can rest assured, without performing extensive audit inquiries themselves that IT‐Lifeline processes, facilities, and employees adhere to the highest security and control standards.
Preparation for SAS 70 Type II credentials continued over a 10 month period and concluded during a successful week‐long audit in late July, 2009. Because of the effort and resources involved‐‐prescribed levels of data security and redundancy and personnel controls‐‐SAS 70 Type II certification is usually undertaken only by large service providers as a result of large customer requirements. With this high degree of oversight, IT‐Lifeline delivers to its Northwest customers the same superior data and operational security as enterprise level corporations.
“Having our Type II SAS 70 report demonstrates that we have been meticulously examined and tested, and as a result we have been judged compliant for safeguards and controls for hosting and processing critical data,” said Jim Sandford, Chief Operating Officer for the company. “Our existing customers are further validated in their decision to have IT‐Lifeline address their critical Business Continuity needs. For those prospects who consider SAS 70 Type II indispensable, we’re an even more competitive Business Recovery and Continuity alternative.”
SAS 70 requirements include reporting on firewall configuration and access, database access, data transmission, data backup and recovery, application security and product development and strict staff and visitor access guidelines. A Type II report includes tests of operating performance and is in compliance with Sarbanes‐Oxley requirements.
IT‐Lifeline provides business with a full range of IT continuity solutions—from plans to action—that ensure full recovery from natural disaster or system failure. Located in seismically stable, climatically mild Eastern Washington, IT‐Lifeline operates a business technology recovery hub that delivers levels of redundancy from real‐time continuation of all or priority operations, to data vaulting and recovery of critical data and applications.
